From my workshop in North Norfolk I make picture frames in solid wood.

I frame canvas, paper, prints, photographs, textiles for artists, galleries, collectors and individuals.

I use my qualifications as a furniture designer and my experience as an artist to produce simple frames that complement contemporary artworks.

Solid Wood

All the frames are solid-wood using timber that is sustainably sourced. No plastics are used in any of the frame mouldings. Fibreboard is also avoided. The available woods are Ash, Elm, Beech, Lime, Poplar, Oak, Maple and Walnut. I also use Obeche, which is harvested sustainably in Africa. Natural woods have slight variations in grain and pattern and I always try to match these as closely as possible in each frames.

All the wood cut to manufacture frame mouldings has its equivalent re-planted by the manufacturer.

I use a variety of methods to join the corners. On smaller frames the corners are underpinned but in some cases corners are jointed or splined.

I make frames to any size and particularly like 20th century modern. I can make a sample to try against the artwork.

Framing Standard

I can work to conservation and museum standards if required. Using materials that are less harmful to the work of art and ensure that it remains protected over a long period without damage from acids or off-gassing.

Hand Finished

All the frames are hand finished. Either using wax, stain, polish and lacquer finishes to bring out the best in an wood. You can also have a painted finish in a variety of colours and finishes included a distressed look.

Stretching Service

I also offer a restretching service for paintings and can supply new stretchers in a range of sizes and thicknesses, depending on the style of framing that will be used on the artwork.
